My Life Lately: More Iron, Less Yoga, and NEW PANTS!

I haven't updated you guys on my general life in a while. I figured it was time!

Where to even start? 2014 has already brought a ton of changes, mostly for the better.

  • To start things off, I am so happy to have become best friends with Abby from Yes To Yummy over the past year. I just returned home from an AMAZING trip with her! Besides the fact that she is a constant motivation for me to be creative in the kitchen, she is one of the most caring, loving, giving, and intelligent people I have ever met. I am blessed beyond belief to have her in my life. How awesome would it be if we could go to college together in the future!

  • A while back I posted about starting to count macros. Well... let's just say that's out the window now. Not that I think it couldn't have worked. But I tried it for about three weeks, and while I found it new and interesting, I also became enlightened. I have been counting calories for years. I am only 16! This... I'm sorry, but it is NO WAY to live.

I train hard. And honestly, I have little desire to ever eat something that I would consider processed, fake, or filled with man-made who knows what. So as long as I am eating healthy and pushing myself in the gym, why on earth do I need to count calories (at least at this time in my life)? I want to focus again on eating mindfully, and hopefully that will provide my mind and body with peace.

This was taken back in December!

  • This past year especially, I have cut way back on yoga. I almost say this with regret, because I love yoga and still hope to be able to teach one day. But right now, my heart is in weight lifting.
I have never been so thrilled to go to sleep, knowing that when I wake up I have an hour to myself... I have never been a competitive person with others, and power lifting/weight training is ALL about personal competition (which I love!)

I am proud to be able to SHAPE MY BODY the way I have always wanted it to look. It's a mental game for sure, but it is worth every tear and drop of sweat shed. Some teenage girls want makeup and boys...all I want is lifting gloves and a barbell across my back. It's fun to be the only girl in the weight room at times!

HUGE thanks to the girls Carrie, Tara, and Staci for motivating me to lift heavy, eat more, and not be afraid of "getting bulky:" (because thats not gonna happen!!) I may not know you personally, but following your blog posts and advice make me feel as if your a friend. I really hope this doesn't make me sound like a giant creeper.

You've probably noticed my increase in lifting if you've been reading my Week of Workouts posts. I have for sure seen improvement since starting this past December when I got a gym membership. I plan to keep you guys updated with any other achievements I make fitness wise.

  • Speaking of weight training... I now have grown a butt. Six months of squats, deadlifts, and other heavy work has given me a behind that I never have had! Lol.
In celebration of my new butt, I have cleaned out my closet and gotten new pants... actually, new clothes!

Okay, well, maybe I was *forced* to do this because none of my clothes fit correctly anymore...

  • I am still working on healing my gut, but am more lenient. I think this (getting rid of food stress) has helped ALOT.
I recently read a post on Marks Daily Apple that made a ton of sense. It talked about a study that was done that proved people's bodies will react differently to food according to how they think about the food. It makes sense! If I THINK my body will feel bad eating something, it probably will.

I still sprout my beans and such, but I am in cooperating more non sprouted beans and have had no nasty reactions. I also eat quality Greek yogurt a occasionally with (USUALLY) no awful side effects.

  • I get to DRIVE legally soon! Lol. I get my drivers license in a month!!

What have you been up to lately?

What Are Your 2014 GOALS?

Hello there Clean Eaters and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I am READY for 2014. The past year has brought many wonderful things...

First and foremost...
I Picked Back Up On My Blog!!

I started Clean Eating Teen back in August of 2012. I didn't post much, but this past summer I became super motivated again and really brought this blog back to life. I am so grateful for this, because I have made wonderful memories through writing here and have found an amazing community unlike any other.

Working Out With Friends, Teachers and Family

I guess I have made something of a name for myself as the "healthy hippie chick." During the summer, my best friend Taylor and I hosted a boot camp open to anyone. Only one of my teachers (and her husband, at one point!) came, but it was still TONS of fun!

I have worked out with her after school this year too. I also have worked out with some other family and friends (I got my momma to do a Bob Harper DVD with me once!)

New Gym Membership
Though I have improved my fitness and made progress working out at home all these years, I have been ready for a while to step it up and be able to access heavier weights at a real gym. I am SO HAPPY this finally happened this past month!!

Now me and Taylor can take as many selfies as we desire.

New Friends
Sophomore_1
I am so happy to have met Abby from Yes to Yummy. She is a fellow teenager who eats and cooks healthy, and is SO adorable, and sweet. I hope we can get to know each other better come 2014.

School Spirit

I didn't do much for Homecoming my freshmen year. This year, I really went all out! This picture, my friend and I dressed up from the 50's for Throwback Thursday.

I went to the dance this year, too.

New Workouts

Thank the heavens for Bob Harper. I love this man.

I also love Tatianna from Loving Fit. This girl knows how to kick my butt.

Crow Pose (well, a few seconds of it!)

Some days are better than others. At least I know I can do it without -always- falling on my face!

An Undying Love for MUSTARD

Lay it all on me.

After all the fun of 2013, what could I be hoping for come the new year?

Well, I have a few goals. I will list them below in no particular order.

1) Stress LESS!
Thank you Abby for reminding me of this! I am always SO hard on myself. With grades, my training, food... I never seem to be able to just be happy. Sometimes being a perfectionist can come in handy. But other times, it just drives me crazy.

This year, I want to be able to feel comfortable in my own skin, and accept my body, my grades, and myself! I always do the best that I can, and sometimes, that is all that is needed (instead of 'perfection', per say).

2) Gain MUSCLE!
Now that I have a gym membership, I am READY to gain MUSCLE! I hope to start a training program from Krissy Mae Cagney, a super fit, super certified, super awesome trainer that I admire and trust to know her stuff!

3) Heal My GUT!
I haven't really discussed this much, but my stomach is in need of some repair.

I have always had a really sensitive tummy. I cut out red meat in 4th grade and that seemed to help. However, flash forward 6 years... I still don't eat red meat, yet my stomach seems to still bother me.

(TMI ALERT!) I get bloated. I feel gross. I can't exactly go to the bathroom in an easy manner... sigh. Perhaps I need to cut out grains? Gluten?

Or maybe... rethink my eating all together? I tend to not eat much meat. But I think honestly, my body might react more positively to meat than I have previously thought.

In any case, this year I plan on healing my tummy. I am tired of feeling... tired! ;)

4) Get my DRIVERS LICENCE!
This one is pretty self explanatory! I have finished my class times. Now to tackle those nasty drive times!

I will be blogging all year long, and as I try to complete these goals, I will update you.

What did you accomplish in 2013?
What are your 2014 GOALS?

Mental and Physical Health Benefits of Yoga: Healthline

Hello guys!

It's time for another guest post from Healthline. I posted one about Clean Eating from them a while back, so if you haven't checked it out yet, do it now!!

Mental and Physical Health Benefits of Yoga

For centuries, Yoga has been dubbed as the the mind-body exercise with both mental and physical benefits, namely strength and cardiovascular health, as well as an activity that can boost mood, relieve stress and even protect against mental illness. In fact, yoga can do a whole lot for your mind, from centering your focus to releasing powerful hormones and endorphins good for the health of your brain.

Yoga Science

Much study has been initiated on the subject of yoga. According to clinical research involving brain imaging, they show that the practice of yoga has produced positive alterations to neurochemistry, improved mood and a reduction in anxiety and depression symptoms.
Medical experts agree that those with symptoms of mental illness and emotional distress have demonstrated that as little as a single session of yoga exercise produced significant improvement in tension, mood and lowered anxiety. The answer seems to lie in changes of neurochemistry due to a sustained yoga practice.  Ultimately, a disciplined yoga regimen can make differences in mental health not seen before by any other treatment.
Apparently, low levels of the neurotransmitter GABA in the brain are connected with anxiety and depression.  The opposite seems to be true with higher levels of GABA, where these neurotransmitters work as an endogenous antidepressant, combatting bouts of sadness and hopelessness .
A recent university study at Boston Medical measured how GABA levels in the brain were affected by sustained yoga exercise. After 12-weeks of the experiment, where half of the subjects practiced yoga and the other half were assigned to traditional cardio and walking exercises,  the yoga participants exhibited greater improvements in mood and greater reductions in anxiety and depression symptoms than did subjects in the walking exercise group. Additionally, brain imaging done on the yoga participants revealed increase levels of GABA neurotransmitters in the thalamus of the brain, which as mentioned, can significantly decrease the symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Yoga for Mental Health

Practicing yoga will give you an increased awareness of your own body because you are often called upon to make small, subtle movements to improve your alignment. Over time, this will increase your level of comfort in your own body, which can lead to greater self-confidence and improved posture.

Secondly, Yoga is intensely physical. Concentrating so intently on what your body is doing has the effect of bringing a calmness to the mind. Yoga also introduces you to meditation techniques, such as watching the breath and how to disengage from your thoughts. These skills can prove to be very valuable in intense situations like stress at work, anxiety attacks, insomnia and even childbirth.

Physical activity is good for relieving stress, and this is particularly true of yoga. Because of the concentration required, your daily troubles, both large and small, seem to melt away during the time you are on your yoga mat. This provides a much-needed break from your stressors, as well as helping to put your problems into perspective. The emphasis yoga places on being in the moment can also help relieve stress, as you learn not to dwell on past events or anticipate the future. You will leave a yoga class feeling less stressed than when you started. Reducing stress can even make a big difference for people struggling with infertility.

Breathing and Meditation

Two large components of a yoga practice are breathing and meditation. Those with a possible mood disorder should think about trying yogic meditation and breathing exercises. Together with physical activity, the ADAA lists meditation as a stress-relieving activity.

Many yoga classes use meditation and inhaling combined exercises.  For instance, an instructor may have students concentrate on smoothing out their breath, pacing and holding the breath for a set amount of seconds during inhales and exhales. The action of concentrating on the breath helps students be present, and that is the essence of meditation.

Yoga for Physical Health

The physical benefits of yoga are unparalleled. Many yoga poses require you to support the weight of your own body in new ways, including supporting yourself with your arms or balancing on one leg. Holding poses over the course of several breaths builds a ton of strength, especially core strength.  As a by-product of getting stronger, you can expect to see increased muscle tone as well. You’ll also improve your balance, which is one of the most important benefits of yoga as you get older.

Moving and stretching in new ways will help you become more flexible, bringing greater range of motion to tight areas. Over time, you can expect to gain flexibility in your hips, shoulders, back and hamstrings.  As we age, flexibility naturally decreases, which leads to pain and immobility. Yoga can turn the clock on flexibility issues, and help you to lead a significantly more mobile life.  Additionally, people with arthritis often see marked improvement in their pain and mobility with regular gentle yoga practice.

Finally, increased flexibility and strength can help prevent the causes of some types of back pain. Many people who have back pain spend a lot of time driving a car or sitting at a computer. That can cause spinal compression and tightness, which you can begin to address with yoga. Yoga also improves your alignment, which helps prevent many other types of pain.

Yoga- For Mind and Body

Experts say the promising findings of yoga exercises, and the strong anecdotal evidence suggesting that yoga works well as a treatment for depression and other mental illness, is rather convincing. Many in the medical community think that yoga could be the most promising non-drug intervention around as it relates to mood disorders.
The Institute of Mental Health lists mild exercise in an effort to cope with depression, and yoga does this in a big way by providing you breathing exercises, meditation, stretching, strengthening, balance and body posture benefits.  It’s like having several disciplines in one, working your entire body through flexibility, strength building, mental prowess and cardiovascular exercise. This says nothing of the fact that yoga can create inner harmony as well.

Many yoga masters suggest specific poses for the relief of depression and anxiety symptoms, such as those that stimulate the parasympathetic central nervous system.  Even the ADAA (The Panic disorders Association of America) advises that certain forms of exercise, like specific yoga poses, alleviates stress and produces endorphins in your body.

A regular practice can offers all kinds of mental and physical health benefits. Some, like improved flexibility, are clearly evident. Others, including mental clarity and stress reduction, may be more subtle but are just as powerful. When put together, all the benefits below contribute to an increased feeling of well-being, which helps explain why so many people find yoga so addictive. So give it a try.  You might find that yoga is the central answer to many of the mental, physical and emotional barriers you’ve been struggling with.

First ChicaLOVerde Guest Post From Claudia!

After guest posting for Claudia, she sent me her post for Clean Eating Teen and I've been beyond excited to share it here. She is such an inspirational woman, who is incredibly intelligent and beautiful. This is only her first post of many, so stay tuned to hear more from her! :) <3

Hello there! My name is Claudia Deen. I’m a former advertising producer and I just started towards my certification to be a Health Coach. I met Nat a few weeks back in Texas and felt very excited to find out we have very similar interests! She is a beautiful young lady that can definitely inspire anyone in a heartbeat so, thanks Nat for having me as your guest!

Here is a little but about me… In March 2010 I decided to move from Venezuela to the U.S. to get my Master’s degree in Film and TV. Coming from a country where hormones and pesticides are ont added to food as much as in the U.S. moving here took a toll on my body. I started to make poor food decisions because I felt lonely, I was bored, or just to “fit in”.

I consider myself a very lucky girl since I had been blessed with great genetics and I love to stay active. In Venezuela I played tennis, basketball, I swam, I practiced yoga and I even earned a brown belt in karate!

After two months of living in the U.S. I decided to sign up for my first marathon but something not very pleasant happened. I noticed I started gaining weight… and even though people said it was “muscle weight” I knew they were wrong. I was eating everything I wanted just because I was logging 40-50 miles a week. My skin started to change, I felt I was lacking energy and I wasn’t happy with the way I looked.

The bad eating habits continued even though I was not happy with myself. It was just hard for my to get back on track (I guess I just didn’t have to motivation and determination). I’d eat 50% of my meals extremely healthy and then 50% extremely bad. One day I finally realized that I was the only one who had control over my body and that I was the only one who could make me feel good about myself. I needed to change if I wanted to improve my performance and attitude so I went back to my roots.

After 3 years of living a very unbalanced life I went back to the way I used to eat, or better! As I said, I love exercising and have always been passionate about it so I finally found my passion about nutrition as well. I’m fascinated on how everything we put into our bodies impact the way we feel, act, and think.

I try to but as many organic products as my wallet allows me; I prefer to take care of myself this way than having to deal with diseases later on. If we spend money on partying, shopping and eating out, why not spend money in buying high quality foods that nourish us? The changes I’ve experienced since I made the decision to be as healthy as I can have been incredible… and most importantly I’m comfortable on my on skin!

When I was working in advertising I noticed that every time I had a free minute I’d start reading online about nutrition and fitness. I learned so much and was so interested in all the information available that I decided to do a shift in my career. If I was able to help myself (with a lot of trial and error) I know I can help others to improve their quality of life as well.

I started my blog Chicaloverde a few months back to connect with people that have to same interests than me and to share my experience with others.

I keep living a very active life, I exercise every day (run, yoga, strength conditioning) and want to motivate and help others to CHANGE.

Bye for now!

Claudia

Nine Things I'm LOVING

This post is a collection of some things that I really enjoy, things that make me (or my tummy!) happy.

Yay for lots of pictures!

9 Things I'm LOVING...

1) The fact that I have been able to achieve Crow Pose for longer than a split second.

2) The tomatoes from the farmers market make a rainbow! Plus, they taste 10000x better than store bought.

3) Remember all my troubles stirring peanut butter? Yeah, uh, problem solved. I think I saw this idea on Pinterest... but basically, I turned my peanut butter over so that the oil settles on the bottom of the jar. Then I placed it in the fridge like this before using so it got hard, and voila! Not stirring for this chicka.

4) Having 7 different legumes in my house. It's a must at all times. I need some recipe ideas! Any suggestions? From top to bottem: black beans, lentils, pink beans, a form of pea, black eyed peas, pinto beans, and great northern beans.

5) Having fun people to sit next to on the bus is really great.
Yes, I still ride the bus... I AM in high school after all! My license in coming though.

6) Coconut oil. Oh my gosh, this stuff just seriously ROCKS MY WORLD.
There is nothing its not good for. Seriously, have you seen the list of things this can do? Deodorant, toothpaste, bug bites... and SAUTEING FOOD! My favorite is sauteing. I also like to put it directly on vegetables or sweet potatoes.

7) Putting my apples in the fridge. I've really gotten into this for the past few months and now find I hate eating them any other way. When they're cold, they just taste so much more crisp and refreshing. Plus I think they're supposed to be stored in there anyways?
GIANT bags of quinoa? Yes, please. You can do so much with this stuff! It is full of protein, and I love adding it into my lentils, as I did on my last WIAW. I currently have two of these bags, plus a little bit left over from a small one bought a while back. I think we can agree that if the Zombie Apocalypse happens sometime soon, I'll be all set on my stock of quinoa.

8) Did you know that putting baking soda into boiling eggs makes the shell come off easier? Thank you again, Pinterest, for the lovely idea. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I really do think that it helps!

And in any case, it makes a really cool reaction. I pour it in the water and it instantly fizzes!
8) And last but not least... I love that Grumpy Cat never lies.
Haha, actually I am a morning person by nature... but you know what? This picture cracks me up, especially with school starting again.

What are you loving?
Any recipe ideas for the massive load of beans I've collected?

My First Self-Instructed Yoga Flow

Though I have been doing yoga for many years and am planning on obtaining my teaching certification after I raise enough funds, never had I strayed away from the instruction of another teacher during my practice. Always, I either have gone to a studio and enjoyed a live class, or used videos or pod-casts online or on DVDs.

I think it was the inner perfectionist inside that prevented me from ever taking the initiative to guide MYSELF during a practice, instead of listening to someone else. What if I did the asanas in the wrong order? What if I left something out, I didn't take enough breaths in a pose, or rushed the pose... pretty much any excuse that I could come up with to satisfy my nervous self, I used.

I also think that a reason I couldn't even fathom the idea of not using an actual class as guidance, is because I felt that if I relied on myself... it wouldn't "really" count as being a "real" yoga flow. After all, who am I to feel out the sequence, when there are teachers who are experienced to do that?

I know this goes against everything yoga is about. Yoga is NOT about relying on an outside source for guidance. Yoga is NOT about judging yourself, and your ability to feel and understand your body. Yoga IS about listening to your body. It IS about relishing in the moment, not being judgmental in any way, and taking life as it comes, being sure to enjoy the process of ups and downs and trust in the universe and it's constant stream of energy.

Me thinking that I couldn't go without a video or classroom to embrace a flow of yoga is not only incredibly shallow minded, but also untrue. What makes me unable to put together a vinyasa for myself? Granted, things would be different if I no clue what I was doing, but I have been doing this sport for a while and am familiar with the usual sequence of things, and which poses I like to see in a class, ext. Yoga is not about being perfect. I am not perfect. So what is stopping me other than myself?

This is what went down.
By the way, this flow is NOT the flow I did on my recent Power Yoga workout video on Youtube. This happened before that.

I schedule my weight training workouts and yoga days in alignment with each other so that my yoga days act as active rest. While I was out of town visiting my grandmother and camping, I had it planned so that I would be doing yoga the day before we left for the camp grounds. In other words, we would still be located at my grandmothers house, therefor I expected to have internet connection and the ability to look up a yoga video.

This didn't happen. While my grandmother doesn't live in the woods or anything, she still lives in the country. Her computer doesn't work well, and even though my phone's wifi also messes up more than it works in this area, I rely on it for any videos I need. It's always a 50/50 chance if they're going to work. When I am doing weight training and a video decides to not load, I can always put together my own workout without thinking twice.I never had to do this with a yoga video, luckily.

However, come that morning, I pulled up the video on my phone and it failed to load. At first I panicked, as the thought of not having a voice of instruction scared me. But then, after thinking a bit and confiding in my family of the dilemma, I was convinced that I would be able to lead myself perfectly fine. So... I did!

No music, no video, no pod cast. I took my mat outside, rolled it out, and started my Power Yoga sequence in the pure bliss of nature. I did not speak. I heard no other human voices. The only noise in my ears was the sounds of birds chirping, the breeze of the wind, and the pounding of my heart of depth of my breathing. It was beautiful.

What was first a sequence I was nervous about, turned into a 75 minute flow that was invigorating, fast paced, challenging... and utterly produced from my own being. No teacher, no one to rely on to know when to move on to the next move... just me.

The feeling I had after the flow was similar to pride, but very much different. It was not pride. I think it was the feeling of pure happiness, shock, and bliss. I was ECSTATIC about what I had just done. I was thrilled that I was able to conduct a flow all by myself. I was not prideful, exactly... I was just very, very grateful.

This experience has strengthened my belief that I want to become a yoga instructor. I felt the flow came so naturally, with such power and grace, that I can not wait to share this great joy with others. I know for sure that this is not the only time in which I will have a great realization, but it is definitely a start, and makes me excited to see what else is in store for me.

From this, I came to a better understanding of what it means to trust in yourself. Yoga can be difficult at times, because it causes you to come face to face with your greatest fears and irrational thoughts. However, with dedication and time, these things can be overcome, and a new perspective is grown and adapted. This is what I love about yoga-it's never ending ability to be so personal to each individual and their needs at a specific time.

For all the yoga instructors out there, or other practitioners, when was your first major realization of something?

When was the first time you led your own sequence, or class, and how did it feel?

Any tips or words of wisdom that I, or other readers could benefit from are gladly appreciated!

My First YOGA VIDEO! On Youtube!

For years, I've been following fitness gurus and figures on Youtube. They often post workouts, and really these videos were where I started my fitness journey. They made it so simple: I didn't have to put together my own routine, I just needed to follow along with them!

I honestly have to say that the first few workouts I discovered online were from Cassey, from Blogilates. I started with her beginner workouts and they kicked my butt! Now I can do her advanced workouts and still enjoy the burn. What really got me loving her channel in general was her cute, bubbly personality... she never made me feel dumb or uncoordinated, like so many trainers will. It was like I had made a new best friend, and she was right there next to me working out!

So, for a while now I have really been wanting to start a Youtube channel of my own. I wanted to post videos in a nice, fun way, so that I can also help people start (or continue) their fitness journey through online workouts! This is exactly what I did yesterday...

Along with fitness workouts, I also use online yoga videos. Yesterday I had planned to use one of these videos... but then I thought, why not create one of my own? I had done it before (More on the details of my first ever self-instructed yoga flow are coming later!), so why not do it again, and this time film myself?

My sister helped to set up my lap top, and off I went. This is definitely a video from a amateur recorder... seriously. Besides the fact I'm really awkward, the lighting is a bit odd and the background not the best. BUT... overall, for my first video, I am proud. It could have been lots worse!

Anyway, here is my FIRST EVER fitness video!! A full 75 minute Intermediate-Advanced Power Yoga Vinyasa Flow. By me, the Clean Eating Teen!

Ahhh! Check it out! Share it, like it, love it, laugh at me.  It's all okay!

Almost There, Just Not Quiet Yet

As you probably know, I have been doing many things in order to raise the funds to continue with my fitness and nutritional education.

One of my first goals was to raise enough for yoga teaching tuition, which usually ranges from $1500-$2000. Mind you, I did not have (and still don't) have ANY plans to ask my parents or other family or help in funding this. I wanted to completely raise the money on my own, not only because my family simply can not afford it, but also because this is MY goal... my dream, and ultimately, my life. I need to take responsibility for that, and not rely on anyone else to do legwork to get me where I want to be.

Some of the fund raisers have included selling home made bread, and of course, offering meal planning services through my Facebook page, Natalie Wester: Holistic Meal Planning. I also am still training some people a few days a week! Really, ANYTHING that my age and ability allows me to do to safely make an extra buck, I am up for.

Just the other day, I was out with some friends and a store we went into was having a HUGE sale. I mean, blow out sale people... it was overwhelming, and while my peers were in line with their many items, I looked down at my single shirt ($4 bucks people!), shook my head, and put it back. Even though the money I was carrying was from past birthdays, I realized that that $4 should be going to my future, not some silly piece of clothing.

Anyways, the reason I have written this post is because, after doing some math, I concluded that I am roughly HALF WAY towards my fund raising goal!! I have about $800-$900. I am SO excited, because this really feels like an accomplishment... it keeps me motivated, so that little urges to spend a dime here or there are easily overpowered with this insane drive to reach my goal.

Sunstone was one of the first studios I went to.

I know it will happen, it just takes time. It gets frustrating at times. I see local studios advertise that it is time to sign up for the next round of their 200 Hour training, yet I find that I still can not yet fill out that application.

I guess it is the universe's way of telling me I am not ready yet? It has taken me this long to raise what I have, and I AM finding that now days the donations are coming in at a bit quicker rate than previously. So I am almost there... just not QUIET yet.

I know a few yoga instructors and have asked around for advice as to where I should obtain my certifications, and just to ask basic questions in general. I am blessed to know these people and hope they can help me grow as a teacher when the time comes.

If any readers out there are yoga teachers, or even fitness instructors, what are some of the biggest challenges you've faced? The best experiences? Is there any magical secret to this industry, or must you just do what YOUR passionate about, no matter what anyone says? I really hope the latter is true, because that really is what I believe in... to be yourself, and do what makes you happy, no matter what anyone has to say about it.

Until the time comes to where I have enough to finally enroll in the classes I need, I am doing what I can to prepare, and simply continue to learn as much as I can about yoga, fitness, nutrition, and over all well being.

Honestly, every day brings with it new ideas, new knowledge, new horizons. I never know what I will wake up to and learn or benefit from. Some days are rather uneventful, yes, but others... they shock me. For example, I try to contact others in the fitness industry in order to make connections, and to my surprise, sometimes they get back with me. Remember when I posted about the Wester Workout featured on P Fit and Designer Whey?  I am still giddy about that. Sure, maybe I wasn't featured on Opera, but it is these little things that keep my spark alive.

I feel as if I am rambling a bit on this post, but I just was really excited to realize I am that much closer to my goal!

What goals do you have/ had to had, and how do you go about achieving them?
Are you or anyone you know a yoga teacher or fitness instructor? If so, tell me about your experience!
